14A: Celtic unlucky to come away with nothing. 0-2
Home > News > 14A: Celtic unlucky to come away with nothing. 0-2

On a beautiful Saturday morning Celtic travelled to Mount Merrion. Celtic started on the front foot and after only five minutes created two very good chances. James Caffrey's powerful shot was saved by the excellent Mount Merrion keeper and soon after that Ciaran Murray's clever chip went wide. At the other end, the Celtic defence had everything under control. Captain Sam Doherty and Proinsas kept very lively hosts' forwards quiet. Half way through the first half Kacem played a perfect ball to Dino Dervisic who ran down the left, beating a couple of defenders before pulling it back for James whose effort was blocked by the diving defender. The hosts realised this could be a tough game for them and they started playing good passing football. After all the pressure created by the visitors, it was the home team who went ahead. Very intelligent quick free kick caught Celtic napping and it was 1-0. Second half was a pretty even contest with both teams creating chances but keepers were not going to be easily beaten. In the last 15 minutes Celtic were pushing forward chasing the equilaser but unfortunately  got caught again on counter attack for 2-0. Last few minutes of the match saw James Caffrey hitting the post and both Alex McCormick and Craig Hughes having their shots blocked by excellent Mount Merrion defence.
