On a beautiful Saturday morning, Celtic travelled to Knocklyon looking to continue their recent good form. The home team enjoyed some success against Celtic in the past two seasons beating them twice and they hoped to do the same this time. It wasn't to be a good day for hosts however. Celtic started the game on the front foot and after only ten minutes found themselves in front. Some great passing football between Olti Berisha and his midfield partner Robert Best created a chance for Klevis Malaj whose shot was cleared but only to Dino Dervisic who beat the offside trap and volleyed the ball into bottom corner for 1-0.
Soon after that James Caffrey broke through the opposing defence and placed the ball for 2-0. The home team tried to push forward in search of the equaliser to get them back into the game but solid defence captained by Sam Doherty could not be penetrated. His defensive partner Proinsias de Bhatuin alongside full backs Kacem Touihri and Luca had another solid performance.
The second half started the same way as the first and Celtic increased their lead after solo effort by Sean Odusole, 3-0. In the meantime the home team tried all they could but even when they came close they were denied by the ever reliable Sabin Ghet. The well taken free kick by Sam Doherty was cleverly anticipated by Robert Best who made a perfect run from deep and caused the confusion in Knocklyon defence, which resulted in an own goal, 4-0.
Alex McCormick combining with Sean and James continued to upset the opponent's defence. One of those actions led to Dino Dervisic playing the ball through to Sean Odusole who got his second goal of the day, 5-0. With ten minutes left on the clock James Caffrey buried the ball into top corner for 6-0. It was another team performance by Celtic and another clean sheet. Special mention to Liam Hosford and Craig Hughes who played important parts in the match even though they were not 100% fit after illness and injury last week.
