FAI Junior Round 2: Celtic progressed to the 3rd round with a narrow win over Ballyfermot Utd in Porterstown Park. The deadlock was broken on 25 minutes when Keith McDarby's shot skewed to Jamie Traynor who buried his effort to put Celtic 1-0 ahead. They doubled their advantage when Joey Crampton exchanged passes with Shane Dunne in the middle of the park before placing his shot in the right hand corner. Ballyfermot seemed to have been given a lifeline on 70 minutes after a Keith McDarby push in the box. They failed to take their chance when their penalty effort was well saved by Paddy Dunne. Celtic maintained their advantage until injury time when Ballyfermot got a consolation goal from Dan McGarry. Man of the match award went to Graham Fennell for his many crucial interventions that kept the visitors at bay, including a clearance off the line in the first half. 2-1
