Celtic finished a very satisfying season in the DDSL Under-16B division, finishing as runners-up to Collinstown FC who were the only team to beat the Castleknock side over the whole season. Today’s victory in Porterstown Park was their 7th successive game without defeat since they lost to the league winners at the start of October. match action
Today’s opposition middle of the table Lucan Utd had held Celtic to a draw before the summer break and they again provided a serious test for the league runners-up. Celtic made the breakthrough on 26 minutes when Alan McDonagh set up man of the match, Patrick Mooney, to give the home side a 1-0 lead at the break. more match action
It was early in the second half when Celtic doubled their advantage. This time it was Alan McDonagh who finished brilliantly on the right hand side of the box when he received a most precise pass from David Jolly. see goal Alan rifled his shot past the Lucan keeper. It was nip and tuck throughout the second half as Lucan tried to get back into the game. But time ran out and it was Celtic who were celebrating in the end at having won their runners-up medals. Well done to Craig Shields and his team who have been excellent all season.
