A murky morning in Porterstown was the scene for Castleknock Celtic and St Mochtas to challenge for local bragging right. It was a well-contested clash where Celtic wanted to erase the memory of a 5-0 league defeat back in November. Duly they started like a train and had St Mochtas under constant pressure during the first quarter hour. The goal came when Eoin McHugh broke through the St Mochtas defence and shot home from 12 yards. Celtic continued to press and with Jay Harper and Shane O'Brien probing for openings, they continued to threaten. St Mochtas gradually got into their rhythm and created chances, but without making a breakthrough, they went into the break with a one goal deficit.
St Mochtas still threatened in the second half, but it was Celtic who again hit the target 5 minutes after the resumption, when Killian Ronan shot home from close range. While St Mochtas fought to gain a platform to get back into the game, in the end, it was Celtic who came out on top and leapfrogged St Mochtas in the league table.
