After their bitter disappointment the previous Saturday, Castleknock travelled to Sallynoggin to play their cup semi final against St Joseph's Boys hoping to put some shine on their season.
Their striker Jay Harper was still out (wrist injury) and with this in mind, the management changed the front and midfield of the team.
The game began with all the pressure coming from the visiting team and the strikers were getting fantastic service from the midfielders , however, the home team keeper was up to the task. The pressure paid off and after fifteen minutes Jabari Crichlow latched onto a cross and duly slotted home.
5 minutes later David Onitiu popped up with a well deserved goal to put Castleknock two up and it stayed that way until the break.
It was more of the same in the second half with all the action coming down both wings by the visitors and the combination of Tino Marcu and Jack D'arcy on the left wing and David and Ben Traynor on the right wing proved too much for Joeys.
Tino scored a good header from a resulting corner kick and he got his second with a 15 yard drive into the roof of the net. He completed his hat trick to make it five with a fine individual effort.
The defenders Conor O'Leary and Keith Hanlon played a great game together and the Keeper Stephen Mason when he was called on did his job well. Midfielders Sean Collins and Kyle Roberts held it up well and not much got through them. Up front Morgan Kynes was industrious but the goal eluded him.
Overall it was a much better performance than last week's disappointing defeat in the league decider against Leixlip Utd, and the passing and switching play from one side to the other was much more evident than the last game.
Everyone went home a lot happier than last week and are looking forward to the final on 10th or 11th May.
