Great game indeed. It was nip and tuck throughout. It looked like it would end a draw which would have been a fair result, but Skerries scored a late goal that gave them a flattering margin when Mr Jordan, referee, blew the final whistle. Harry Maxwell had brought Celtic back in contention soon after the turnaround with his trademark finish, and Paul Baskiran had weaved his magic to rifle home the equaliser midway through the second half, with a goal that must have been a contender for goal of the season. Skerries struck back soon after to put their noses in front again, and they did not lose their advantage again. Man of the match was very difficiult to select, but in the end it must go to Liam who scored a bullet from distance, and then took up goalkeeping duties where he performed magnificently. Skerries' 3-goal Harley was another contender for man of the match.
Congrats to both teams who gave a great display of exciting football that whets our appetite for the Mini World Cup over the coming week. Best of luck to all the participants in that tournament which starts on Tuesday in Porterstown.
A final thought for Skerries striker Neil McDermott who got car sickness on the journey to Castleknock. We wish him a speedy recovery. Match action
