The absence of goals in this season opener didn’t take from the excitement of the game. Despite some late withdrawals Celtic
went into this fixture with an air of confidence thanks to good mix of old and new players in the squad.
In very warm conditions the game started at a high tempo. Both sides had a number of chances throughout the first half with
Celtic just about winning a hard fought midfield battle.
The second half began just as the first one finished at a very fast pace. Celtic seemed to have the edge in all key areas, however
Trinity were quick to break and did threaten the Celtic goal on a number of occasions. Despite a number of good opportunities
including some “one on ones”, Celtic couldn’t find the back of the Donaghmede net.
Whilst Celtic had better of the possession, more scoring opportunities, and perhaps should have won the match, to come away from
Donaghmede with a point at any time in the season is never a bad days work.
