Castleknock Celtic 1 - 1 Glasnevin
What a fantastic way to start the 2014/15 league campaign. It was beautiful sunshine in Porterstown and two fantastic teams did battle in this U-10B1 league match. Glasnevin started really well and had flair in their passing game and troubled our defence on numerous occasions. Playing up the hill against the breeze meant most of the pressure was on our defence with Dylan and Finn being called on to clear the lines. The Glasnevin passing game was difficult to get a grip on and they scored a fine goal after 12 mins. However eventually the midfield started to click and gain possession. We were very dangerous on the break, as Frankie, Guy, Michael and Calum broke forward on numerous occasions. We finished the first half much the stronger.
In the second half we started much better with Reece playing much further forward and putting Glasnevin on the back foot. We started to dominate the game and had numerous chances to get back into the game. It eventually came with great battling from man of the match Calum Gormley who stole the ball and passed to Frankie who spotted Reece at the back post who with a brilliant back heel flick the back of the net. We then piled on the pressure with Finn cutting out all the supply in the middle of the park and feeding the ball forward. Celtic were unfortunate not to get a second or third but it was not to be.
In the end we had our goalkeeper Callum Sheridan to thank when he pulled off two "world class" saves to keep the scores level. A great game with great skill and passion and a decent start to our league campaign against a very strong Glasnevin team.
Well done lads!!!
