Celtic started brightly from the first whistle, keen to show Sacred Heart they would be no pushovers, and soon took a one nil lead through a finely taken Ben McDonagh goal. Despite pressure from the opposition, Celtic held onto their lead not least because of some fine goalkeeping from Malik Shushan.
Early in the second half Sacred Heart equalised. Celtic responded decisively. They up their game and soon restored the lead through two goals in quick succession from Jatin Ramesh. Captain Cillian Hegarty added a lovely individual effort cutting in from the right hand side of the box to make it 4-1. Celtic looked comfortable with 10 minutes remaining. Sacred Heart rallied however and forced their way back into the game with two goals inside the last 5 minutes but Celtic showed all their resolve to keep them at bay and hold out for a well deserved 4-3 win.
