It was cold but dry and crisp, and a good playing surface in Airlie Heights. Lucan Utd had much of the play, but it was a fine passage of play on the left hand side that led to Celtic taking the lead half way through the first half. Ronan Wells surged forward on the left flank, beating off a number of challenges before crossing to Theo Hennessy. He bravely pushed the ball through to Dominic Odujebe who made no mistake from close range. It was end to end stuff throughout, with Calin Doherty, back after illness, in fine form in the defence. Aaron O'Reilly was raiding regularly up the right wing, whipping balls into the box. James Whooley in goal was his usual reliable self, dealing with everything that came his way. When Lucan struck to equalise in the second half, deservedly, James had no chance with the low shot into the corner. Aidan Thom, when he got the opportunity, was menacing and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Andrei Ungureanu worked tirelessly for his team, from his defensive role to pushing forward at every opportunity. All in all it was a battling performance by Celtic against a tough Lucan Utd team, and it was a fair result at the end of the day when they finished all square. Well done boys. 1-1
