Stunning comeback today from Castleknock. Playing into the wind in the first half Castleknock started the brighter of the two teams and had a few early chances. Then they were hit on the break for 2 quick goals from Finglas.
Castleknock came back at Finglas but then another break away goal and Castleknock were 3-0 down at half time - chance to regroup!
The players came out ready for the second half and started to put Finglas under pressure but then a nice passage of play from Finglas led to another goal : 4-0....a long way back for Castleknock.
So Castleknock rolled up the sleeves and start to put some nice passing moves together. They had a few good chances but it looked like it was not their day as chance after chance went begging - then finally it came - first goal from Evan Ryan for Castleknock. Straight from the kickoff they put pressure on but Finglas were not going to take it easy on Castleknock and had an attack that the Celtic keeper (Dylan Osborne) gathered easily - Dylan is known for his powerful kick and with Evan's pace up front this is one of the teams weapons. He launched the kick down to Evan who chased it down and flicked it by the keeper : 4-2. Celtic kept going forward and after some good play from Dawide Biernat on the right the ball ended up at the far post and Evan smashed it by the keeper - hat trick for Evan and Celtic were firing.
Finglas still had their moments but the Celtic defence was holding firm. After a Finglas attack Dylan gathered the ball and he spotted Evan up front - he launched another pinpoint accurate kick down the field which Evan controlled and flipped up, turned and then volleyed into the far top corner from just inside the box! What a comeback 4-4!
Celtic finished strongly but could not find the winner.....but as the players left the field most would say it felt like a win!
Man of the match was Evan for his 4 goals but he would be the first to tell you that he could not have done it without his team mates! Well done boys.
