Celtic who are second in the table travelled to Edenmore to face fourth placed Grange Woodbine, and with only 3 points splitting the two teams, this was a huge game. The pitch was barely playable with monster puddles in both goals but both managers decided with the referee that the game would go ahead.
Celtic started slowly giving Grange multiple chances and asking keeper Colm Black to make numerous vital saves and causing some wonder tackles from both centre backs Sean Brieffies and Gavin McGloughlin. 35 minutes in and Celtic win a corner, Conor Kavanagh takes it short to Dennis Eggunike who uses his left foot to calmly slot it in at the near post 1-0 Celtic. The visitors held the lead for the remainder of the first half.
Grange came out all guns blazing in the second half and scored early with a cross that was headed in at the back post, 1-1. It was up to Celtic to react and that they did with a pin point accurate pass from right back Shane Tobin to put Dylan Kirby through and he rolled it in past the keeper, 2-1.
Pressure was back on Celtic as Grange pressed for a equaliser. Some sloppy clearances and falls on a slippy surface led to Grange's second as the ball fell perfectly for their striker who put it in the corner. Celtic again began to push for the lead with Conor Kavanagh rattling the crossbar minutes before he was determined not to waste his next chance, finding himself on the left side of the 18 yard box he side stepped two defenders before burying the ball in the top right corner giving the keeper no chance, 3-2.
Both teams had chances in the closing minutes but it was Grange who found the net. A long range shot was well saved by Colm but he could only parry it into the puddle as the water stopped the ball dead and Grange only had to poke it in, 3-3.
Celtic were disappointed not to take three points but they would probably have been satisfied with a point before the game, missing five players.
