Celtic travelled to Kells Blackwater for the knock-out stages of the Tournament having qualified from the previous week's fixtures. It was a day of frustration for Celtic who had hoped to make solid progress following their pre-season preparations for the new season. The team did not live up to expectation and maybe their thoughts were elsewhere abroad on holiday on the Mediterranean or afar in the US. They were drawn against St Malachy's Boys from the DDSL 13Major league who were a committed team and up for the fight. They took the game to Celtic and got an early return when indecision at the back let them in for their first goal. They followed this up with a similar second and looked comfortable. However Celtic did hit back when Alan Elliott hit home. A third for Malachy's put the result beyond doubt and they progressed to the semi finals, but they had to be content with a 4th place finish in the tournament. Celtic played their play-off against Cherry Orchard for 5th place, but they shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw, with goals for Celtic coming from Michael Afuye who scored a peach of a goal, Kevin Long got the second, with Alan Elliott completing the scoring with his second of the tournament, a speculative shot from the right flank. The game ended in fabulous warm summer sunshine which was in stark contrast to the torrential rain that had lashed down in stair rods earlier on.
