Top of the table clash in Cabinteely today and Celtic were happy to welcome back (after injury) their midfield dynamo, Cian da Costa.
Celtic played the first half "down the hill" and they were the first to create a chance with some good interplay between Cian, Evan Ryan and Adam Geraghty with Adam pulling his shot just wide. Celtic continued to push forward and had a few chances with shots from Dylan Osborne and Evan. At the back Lee Canavan and Chesney Moniz were dealing with any attacks. Dawide Biernat was in goals for the first half and was distributing the ball well. Some fresh legs came on and Celtic continued to press. Evan was played through and struck a sweet volley over the bar. 0-0 at half time.
Celtic were playing up the hill in the second half and this suited their passing game. Dylan was now in goals and his kickouts were excellent. Dawide was playing up front with Conor Coughlan on the right and Bradley Creighton on the left - the dynamo was running the centre of the pitch! After some good play between Cian and Conor, Dawide had a good shot but the goalkeeper saved it well. Time for some more fresh legs - Adam, Evan and Lee. Celtic kept pushing forward and after a neat one two between Cian and Adam, Evan got the ball at the edge of the box - he cut inside and smashed it into the far corner off the post (Coutinho-esque)!
Cabinteely were trying but they were not getting any change out of the Celtic defence - Ethan O'Reilly, Chesney and Lee were taking care of everything. After some good buildup play Evan sent Dawide through and his shot was just wide. Celtic were creating a good few chances now -Evan hit the post and the goalie somehow gathered the ball. From another Celtic kick out Dawide sent Evan to the byline and he went in on goal and slid the ball under the goalie. 2-0
Celtic continued to creat chances but also looked very steady at the back and finished out the match 2-0 winners. Great team performance - roll on next week!
