Hartstown Hunstown 0, Castleknock Celtic 1.
The U17A’s made the short journey to Hartstown Park to play local rivals HHFC.
Celtic travelled with just 11 fit players as a number of players were out of action due to illness. HHFC who are at the opposite end of the league table upped their game considerably, perhaps in an effort to extract some revenge for the 7 – 0 defeat that Celtic inflicted upon them back in January.
The match wasn’t the most attractive game of football, with the exception of an excellent goal from Shane McDonagh, who chipped the ball into the top corner of the net just before half time.
Celtic squandered a number of good scoring chances throughout the match and in reality should have won by a bigger margin. That said, with no substitutes on the day whereas the opposition had a full squad, Celtic did well enough to hold on for the 3 points and their ninth league win in a row.
Best for Celtic were goal scorer Shane McDonagh and the defensive trio of David Spillane, David Hickey and birthday boy Ruairi O’Flaherty.
