Mary Farrell Cup Qtr. Final
In their first midweek game this season the U17A’s welcomed Premier Division opposition for the quarter final of this very prestigious cup competition.
Celtic were hoping for an early goal to settle themselves and with 5 just minutes on the clock, leading scorer Cory Power obliged when he volleyed home from the edge of the penalty area. Brazilian maestro Daniel Ferreira doubled the margin when he chased down a long kick out from goalkeeper Luke Kearney. Ferreira got the better of 2 Dunboyne defenders before burying the ball in the back of the net.
Celtic dominated the game for the remainder of the half with David McCabe in excellent form. However despite having scoring opportunities they missed a number of chances.
As the second half progressed, Celtic continued to dominate with the first of 2 goals from Darren Doyle to make it 3-0 virtually killing off any fight in the visitors. Doyle’s second goal was a catalyst for some unusual celebrations.
Cory Power rounded off the scoring with a well-taken opportunity.
This was the 11th win in a row for this team. The focus now is on a league match this Sunday at home against Malahide Utd. Kick-off is 12:45….all support welcome.
