Leicester proved plucky opponents on the Blanchardstown IT all weather surface against table toppers, Castleknock Celtic, who had changed ground to make sure the game did not fall foul of the weather which had chucked it down all day Friday. Celtic had romped home the previous Monday with a 5-0 victory over Tolka Rovers, and it looked more of the same when they took an early lead with an Owen Akpiama goal on 8 mins with an assist from Michael McDonald, who was to prove the man of the match, having been moved back to his more familiar striking role following his defensive duties against Home Farm recently. For the opening quarter, Celtic played slick passing football and were in command. Celtic would surely have scored more but for the brilliance of the visitors' keeper. Leicester stuck to their task and kept it at 1-0 at half time.
The second goal did not arrive until 22 mins after the resumption. The same pair were involved, but this time it was Owen who was the provider, with Michael applying the finishing touch. Leicester struck back deservedly though, through Adlane Boulmehl which made for anxious moments for the home management team. But the superior finishing power of the Celtic attack proved crucial. 2 mins from time, Celtic restored their 2 goal advantage with Noma Eredianu providing the assist for Michael to score his second. With the game just about finished, it was Noma again being the provider for Michael who completed his hat trick. Michael was well pleased with his man of the match performance which capped the day when he made his return after being caught short the previous match !!! Haha. Well done Michael
