U15A LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2014/2015
Our U15A's topped their recent promotion success with a league title on the final weekend of the campaign.
What a season! After last year's promotion, being in the A division this year we all knew it would be a great challenge, but a challenge all the lads welcomed.
Congratulations to the whole team on an amazing achievement for a squad of thirteen players.
Defeated only twice in the season having won 14 games, drawn 2, scored 62 goals, only conceding 12 goals and being cup semi finalists in such a tough league.
MEET THE TEAM
Stephen Mason
Only conceding 12 goals , which is a huge achievement for a fantastic goal keeper who saved us plenty of times this season even saving a couple of penalties along the way. Strikers are afraid to take him on and his enthusiasm and energy for this position was exceptional. Great season Stephen keep holding them -
but he was always backed up by
THE DEFENDERS
Ben Traynor
Ben was clearly another player that showed consistent performances every week. The team felt very comfortable every time the opposition would break down Ben’s side. It was extremely rare to see a striker get past this man. Through every game Ben was on song and his clearance skills and pin point accuracy from a dead ball were of great value to the team. Brilliant Ben, keep the left foot safe.
Keith O'Hanlon
The man in charge of the defence. Keith showed constant good performances throughout the year and certainly kept the boys in the back in gear. He was our last man before the keeper and he did a sensational job. It was rare to see this man make mistakes. An absolute thriller of a year for Keith. Well done Keith.
Jack D'arcy
Jack showed massive improvement throughout the season and by the final match, he was giving strikers many problems. Jack's best game by far was the last home game of the season where he absolutely made the opposition's strikers extremely frustrated. Jack, great stuff this year , greatperformances and strength, you did really well.
Conor O'Leary
A player who continues to improve each season. He never complains about playing defence and he seems to strive on the challenge each week. He has shown us lately that he is comfortable running the wing with the ball and will be keen to use his speed in the future. Great season Conor.
Matthew Leonard
Matthew clearly had a very impressive season. Matt’s height always threw the opposition off and made players think twice about going past him. With his long legs Matt produced some quality defending this season, and heavily worked on his clearances. By the end of the season he was clearly all quality. An absolute cracker of a season for you Matt.
THE MIDFIELDERS
MORGAN KYNES
The sensation that refused to let a striker go on a run. Our work horse who never stops running in the middle of the park and really drives the team forward, Morgan gave the team a sense of creativity and killer instinct and really took the team to a new level making some devastating tackles and bagging himself a few goals along the way while also winning the man of the match on several occasions. Incredible performances Morgan keep it up.
SEAN COLLINS
The second half of the midfield duo had another exceptional year playing doggedly every game. His soccer skills have improved out of sight and had a lot of work to do not only in attack but also in defence. Sean was very unlucky to miss out on the last two games of the season with a knee injury but it won't be long before he's back making a nuisance of himself to opposing teams. Great stuff Sean.
Dino Marcu
A Bulldozer who powers over the top of defenders if there is a chance of a goal. No one could catch him once he went on one of his many runs up the wing. Opposing teams usually had two men marking Dino but it made no difference to his pace and determination. Keep up the good work Dino.
Sean Hogan
Sean had a fantastic season, Mr versatile, his ability to play anywhere on the field made him an invaluable asset to the team. Sean played doggedly every game and he has that attitude of never giving up. His football skills have improved out of sight and keeps making those last ditch tackles. Sean has scored some fine goals and is always looking for the great one. Well done on a great season Sean.
Vlad Skrypka
Vlad is a powerful player who has continued to improve all season. A strong and quick right winger who gave many an opponent a cold this year as he blew by them. No stranger to the strikers position, Vlad has helped himself to a bagful of goals and sets up team mates with his deft passing. Keep it going Vlad.
THE STRIKERS
Luke Danagher
Luke continues to impress with each passing game. A quiet player who handles himself with distinction each week. Luke possesses the intelligence and ball skills to destroy the confidence of defenders and has shown it with a number of goals to his credit in this season. Fantastic stuff Luke keep impressing.
Jay Harper
Captain Jay has drive and skill. Tough and hard he goes all day and sets up many attacking raids with his skillful passing and thinking. Speedy when on the wing and in front of goal has scored some crackers this year-even with his right foot!. Set up a heap of goals too with his great team play. Well done Jay, keep finding the net.
I hope you lads enjoyed your year and all come back to do it all again next year!Thank you to all the parents who gave their support to the team in rain or shine this year also with lifts to away matches and taking down the nets in Porterstown.
TEAM SPONSOR
Finally, a huge thanks to Mark Jones from Spar Carpenterstown for his valued support for this team over the last six seasons.
