Castleknock Celtic wondered how they would react to being held to a 5-5 draw last week after they had led 5-2 in that game. We need not have wondered. Within a couple of minutes Traian Rebegea was putting Celtic ahead as Dalkey were caught cold following their long trip from south County Dublin. Soon after it was Olti Berisha who beautifully set himself up for a precise shot that beat the keeper. 2-0. John Pereira struck his goal from close range to make it 3-0. Traian was again shooting home when he fired a splendid finish that gave the keeper no chance. Dalkey kept battling against a Celtic team that was in brilliant goal-scoring form. The visitors got their reward when Sonny Moore beat the Celtic defenders and unleashed a fine shot to reduce the arrears. Dalkey would have been a lot closer if Celtic had not had Robert Best and Gavin Cameron who had a policy of 'they shall not pass'. This policy was continued by Kacem Touihri when he came on late in the second half. Sean Odusole, despite carrying an injured leg. was putting in a huge shift in the middle of the park. He went within a whisker of scoring when he broke through only to be denied by the post. 4-1 at half time.
Traian had moved to goalkeeping duties for the second half, and he was quickly in action having to make a fine save. He was now being helped at the back by Luca Ursache. It then became the Callum Lynch Show. He hit 2 unstoppable shots from distance, and one which he got as he bravely slid in for his hat trick. Francis Uy then scored after a fine run, following a pass from Bogdan Rusu. Dalkey struck back again as Fionn Murray hit home a brilliant finish.
Though the scoreline read 8-2, it does not do justice to Dalkey who put in a very creditable performance and on another day could have had many more goals on the board. Meantime Celtic continue their free-scoring form, and they will be looking forward to training on Monday at 6.30pm when Stephen and Dre will be putting them through their paces to bring about more improvements to their game.
