DDSL U16 PREMIER
Peamount 2 Castelknock Celtic 2
Celtic travelled to Peamount for their first match of the new campaign in the DDSL PREMIERSHIP with an injury ravaged team. Missing two crucial defenders Jack (arm) Matthew (foot) and midfielders Sean Collins (knee) , Vlad (eye) Adam (groin).
The performance in the first half was very poor. Very few shots on goal and after 20 minutes Peamount took the lead with a soft goal. They doubled their advantage just before half time with a well taken goal after a number of defensive errors. Abasse was then taken off after a head clash and was replaced by Nathaniel. Some fine saves and goal-line clearances kept the score at 2 nil at the break.
After some strong words from management the second half started brighter but 15 minutes in Celtic were down to ten men after Morgan was red carded. This seemed to spur the Celts on even more and with half an hour to go Luke Danaher played a great ball into Jabari Crichlow who calmly slipped the ball past the keeper.
It was all Castleknock from then on and after a number of goalscoring opportunties were spurned and 5 minutes on the clock, Sean Hogan took the ball up the wing and from a tight angle hit the ball into the roof of the net. Great play from Luke Danaher, Adam Russell and Dino in the centre contributed to a fine second half.
The chances were there to win the match , however, everyone was delighted with the point.
The ten men played fantastic and it was a credit to them the way they fought and never gave up.
Play like this in every match and they will be hard to beat.
