“Celtic hit the ground running with quality display”
There was a special feel at Porterstown this Saturday as a new season dawned. Nothing beats the cheers, roars, oohs and aahs from Porterstown Park on the weekend mornings. First day of the season is always special – big crowds with children running around filled with the excitement that only a season opener can bring. With 25 games at home this w/e Porterstown really was the place to be.
The new look U11’s were in action and boy were they hungry. Finglas never stood a chance and from the off Celtic were in cruise control – there were goals galore with James Brown, Ryan Mac Gregor, Ivan Hristov, Caitlin Lobont, Ben Forde and Luke Hughes all having their scoring boots on.
Ensuring we kept a clean sheet Ben, Capt Ryan Sherlock and keeper Max Ostapchuk were in top form while Esse Okirikpo was the conductor of the orchestra in midfield.
But of course it takes 2 teams to make a game and Finglas, to their credit, never stopped battling and always looked to pass the ball.
A special mention to our “Newbie” James Brown whose football was almost as good as his namesakes music!!!. With 4 goals he has to be our Man of the Match - Well done young man.
As for Castleknock if they can keep this form up it won’t be long before they are regraded upwards. Next week it will be a case of back to the training ground where the Celts will look to fine tune their skills but for now it’s a case of “ Well done lads”.
