The game was played at 100 miles from hour from the kick off, an early attempt at goal from Esker went wide rapidly followed by an on target goal from Esker. Castleknock Celtic responded with a goal attempt from Fabian, coming from a Will Hennessy cross, that did not find the net. Then came what was to be the highlight of the first half, Great scored a fantastic left footed goal from 25 yards out, opening the score for Castleknock Celtic. Esker responded with a second goal. The half time score remained 2: 1.
Esker scored a 3rd goal in the opening minutes of the second half, this was followed by what was a fantastic passage of play by Castleknock Celtic that continued right up until the final whistle. During this time Fabian found the target bringing the score to 3: 2. Will Hennessy delivered a brilliant free kick finding Callum Oliphant who rose like a fish in front of goal and headed the ball but did not find the target. Down the other end the goal saving tackles were too many to mention with superb defending from Tom. Adam came out fighting in the second half making strong tackles and on one occasion having a go at goal that bounced back into play delivering a chance to Klevis, sadly not finding target. There was controversy in the dying minutes of the game with a hand ball by Esker not spotted by the referee. Castleknock were the dominant team in the second half, all team members played brilliantly and worked hard for each other, keeping the pressure on. The scoreboard is not a fair reflection of what was a thoroughly superb performance from this team.
