Celtic travelled to the garden county for this away fixture. 13 eager players in the squad, the warm up was all about passing the ball and movement. Ardmore Rovers provided the opposition in what proved to be a stiff test. Castleknock started brightly and worked some good positions but were guilty of over-carrying the ball and not releasing the pass. The opening goal for Ardmore came down Castleknock's right side. The ball was crossed into the box and deflected into the net off a Castleknock defender giving Francis in goal no chance.
Celtic had chances to equalize but were a little rushed in the attempt at the crucial moment. Ardmore scored again 20 mins in when a snap shot spun into the goal following a good save by the unlucky Francis. After the break Celtic's performance improved and were unlucky not to score when Chesney's shot came back off the post, the second time the post prevented the away team scoring in this game.
Conor in midfield was finding his passes and pushing the team on, Declan was full of energy and had the ref clapping in admiration after he skilfully controlled a ball on his chest before playing a pass into his forwards' feet. Ardmore's 3rd goal was from a breakaway and was neatly finished after rebounding from the cross bar. There was not much between these two teams but Ardmore played well and took their chances and in the end deserved there victory.
The lesson for Celtic is to move the ball quickly and be a little smarter in possession. The team consisted of Francis, Eoghan ,Simon. Daniell. Ross, Owen B, Conor, Danny, Declan (cap), Salim, Jessie, David and Chesney. Hard luck lads and see you at training.
