St Mochtas 0 - 2 Celtic
Celtic too strong in local derby
Celtic U12A proved too strong for their local rivals at Porterstown Road winning two nil on the day. On a perfect September morning, playing on a beautiful surface that suited Celtic's passing style the boys saw off a determined St Mochtas with two well taken strikes from Malik Shushan.
The first half was tight with few chances for either side but Celtic passed the ball better and defended resolutely when they had to. The main talking point of the first 30 minutes was the 33 foul throws the referee called against both sides giving both sets of players something to work on.
Nil Nil at half time but Celtic knew that if they continued to pass the ball in the same manner in the second half chances and hopefully goals would come, and so it proved. Ten minutes into after the restart Shushan opened the scoring with a sweet strike that the Mochtas keeper could only parry over the line into the net. Celtic dominated after that and Shushan added a second a few minutes later finishing off a nice move down the right involving Eryk Fecowicz and Ciaran Murtagh. Ciaran, captaining the side, had an outstanding game in the the centre of midfield and deserved his Man of The Match award.
Almost as pleasing as the result was the fact Celtic have now kept consecutive clean sheets through solid defending, with keeper Konrad Fecowicz, Ben Nolan, Dauda Danson, James Murgatroyd Sam Mulhern and Brian Carolan all performing well at the back when they had to. Ben McDonagh, Jatin Ramesh had good games in midfield and Cillian Hegarty worked tirelessly leading the line, however it was Malik that stole the show with two goals to win the game and leaves the team unbeaten in their last three with only one goal conceded.
Well done lads great performance.
