A 5-goal haul for Cormac Downes and 2 from Gabbi Aghinita gave Celtic an overwhelming win at home to Sacred Heart in Porterstown.
Celtic entertained Sacred Heart at Porterstown park on a beautiful Sunday morning. Celtic started on the front foot hitting the crossbar in their first attack straight from the kick off. Celtic went close twice more before opening the scoring midway through the first half with a neat move down the left involving Cian Rush and Conor Rice who set Cormac Downes up to beat the keeper low to the keepers left. Cormac added a second just before half time after good work from Gabbi Aghinita.
Celtic started the second half as they finished the first and Cormac added two more goals within the first ten minutes both set up by Gabbi. Sacred Heart pulled one back but again Cormac scored to restore Celtics four goal advantage. Celtic were awarded a penalty which Cormac took only to see his shot saved by the Sacred Heart keeper who managed to get a hand to it and turn it around the upright, preventing Cormac getting a double hat-trick. Gabbi added two more goals to make the final score 7 - 1. This was a great performance from all sixteen members of Castleknock Celtic.
