Another day for Celtic to wonder what happened. They looked like they were on top for long spells in this home game, and seemed to be the likely winners. But at the end of the game, it was Manortown who took the points. The difference in the end was that they took their chances, and made the tackles when it mattered.
Ryan Brady had smashed a spot kick off the crossbar, while Matthew Coughlan's shot, also from the spot, was brilliantly pushed over the bar. If they had gone in, we would have had a radically different match.
Celtic are putting in the effort, but since their impressive start to the season, they have lacked the cohesion that will come with time, training and playing together, and which will deliver the victories.
Ryan Brady was again the scoring ace with his goal, and was unlucky not to get his second. Gentian Ramadani hit two, including a superb free kick into the roof of the net from 20 metres out. As Celtic chased the game, they got caught on the break by Manortown whose finishing was clinical. They also scored from the penalty spot when their striker was taken down in the box.
And so, it's back to training on Thursday at 6pm in the NAC when the guest coach, subject to confirmation, will work on defensive aspects of our game.
