Celtic took on Mid Sutton in this away fixture. The pitch was small and had lots of autumn leaves on the surface.
As the warm up was taking place the players knew passing the ball would be tricky on this pitch. However confidence was high after last week's win.
The game began with Celtic taking the upper hand, winning most of the battles and pushing forward in numbers but could not find the final pass in a packed Sutton defence.
Declan O'Malley was busy in midfield and attacked at every opportunity, twice getting around the back of the Sutton full backs and putting in dangerous crosses. Simon at the back was commanding his area and playing neat set-up passes to his team mates in midfield.
Ross Kennedy and Eoin B were calm in the defence and supported the attack when possible.
Celtic took a deserved lead mid way through the first half. A long ball from Jessie in goal was not cleared by the Sutton defence and Daniel took advantage and finished in fine fashion.
The second half began with both teams tackling strongly, with Chesney using his strength to gain possession for his team. Cormac on the right was playing his passing game to good effect and Eoghan S was causing problems for the home team with his energy and good use of the ball. Francis was sharing the striking duties with Chesney. However Mid Sutton were putting the pressure on the Celtic defence and drew level with a free kick that was slotted into the corner of Jessie's Goal..
Celtic went after the winner in the final phases of the game but could not find a winner despite some good positions. All in all a fair result and there was plenty of positives to take from this game. The work rate of the Celtic players was excellent and on a better pitch, the passing game Celtic like to play would have been more effective. Well done all and see you at training on Tues and Thur evenings.
