Celtic U12A side made it 5 straight wins in a row with a well earned win away at Dalkey United. After no league game for 4 weeks since their last league outing Celtic started slowly against a Dalkey team riding high in the league, and paid the price after 2 minutes as the home side took the lead.
As the first half progressed the boys gradually worked their way into the game although chances were thin on the ground in the early stages as Dalkey played a very high line at the back and it took the boys a while to work out how to stay onside and still carry a threat going forward. reward came after 20 minutes as Celtic equalised through Eryk Fecowicz with his second of the season. A nice finish chipped over the keeper from just inside the box. Celtic grew in confidence and Brian Carolan put us in front towards the end of the half.
Celtic just shaded a keen contest throughout the second half with man of the match Dauda Danson, James Murgatroyd and Sam Mulhern all defending solidly and keeping Dalkey chances tha minimum. Everything that was hitting the target was dealt with comfortably by a confident Konrad Fecowicz in goal.
Midway through the half Ben McDonagh scored a superb goal of real quality to put Celtic 3-1 up, controlling the ball midway in the opposition half, turning inside with a lovely piece of skill before picking his spot and effortlessly curling the ball into the far bottom corner. A piece of real quality from one of our best players on the day. Ciaran and Ben N, battled well in midfield throughout the match and Cillian and Malik had to work hard up front with little space to play in.
Dalkey pressed hard thereafter and a real effort was put in by Castleknock to maintain their advantage but the home team gave themselves a chance when they pulled one back with 5 minutes left on the clock. The lads held resolute and showed real character in the final minutes and helfd on for an important away win, despite a mysterious 3 minutes added time giving Dalkey every opportunity to equalise. With the Celtic Management team pacing the line, arms outstretched pointing at their wrist watches and gesturing toward the man in black 'Fergie-style', the referee decided he had seen enough and blew for full time. A great away win for the team with excellent performances from all of the 11 man squad on the day. Well done boys
