Portmarnock show plucky side and deserved their share of the points away to Celtic in Porterstown Park. Celtic looked the slicker of the sides in the first half, but had only one goal to show for their superiority. A fine through ball from Luke to Glory Nzingo was finished with aplomb by the striker who rounded the keeper with style. It was not all one way traffic in that first half, and a harsh penalty was awarded to the visitors, but they squandered the opportunity of squaring things.
The second half was nip and tuck, and both sides went close. Another harsh penalty to the Port was awarded midway through the half. This time the Port penalty taker made no mistake as he blasted the ball home.
Portarnock had a glorious chance when their striker was sent through, and one on one with the keeper, he lofted the ball just over the bar.
Glory Nzingo raced along the left wing, cut into the box, but his effort on goal was just wide of the far post.
This reporter's summary was that it was an evenly contested game, and a draw was a fair result. Well done to both sides for the entertainment on a cold but bright afternoon in Porterstown Park. more match action
