Castleknock Celtic 7 Orchard Celtic 0,
The wind and the rain made for very difficult playing conditions at the start of this match, but this did not distract Castleknock Celtic who made a determined start and a return to form.
Will Hennessy opened the goal-scoring with an early strike coming from a Fabian Wolski cross. Then followed a passage of play that was littered with goal attempts. Scott Daly, with a welcome return to the team, put in a great run from the half way line and then took aim at goal but his shot was well saved by the keeper. Callum Oliphant was next with an attempt on goal, Fabian crossed from the left wing and Callum made one of his trademark headers, but his strong attempt crept just over the bar. Adam Nolan put in a great run down the right wing and his well-placed cross was met by Fabian Wolski who narrowly missed with a shot on the run. As the first half came to an end Scott Daly and Will Hennessy combined again but another shot just missed the target. Again Adam Nolan put in another great run and crossed the ball into the box where a queue of Castleknock Celtic players took turns in missing the net! Fabian Wolski who today was racking up the assists, once again crossed to Will but no goal, Scott created the space to have a pop at goal and this too was saved by the keeper.
Finally, the second goal came, it was a mirror image of the first goal with Fabian Wolski crossing to Will giving him his second goal of the match.
Orchard Celtic were awarded a penalty as the ball appeared to bounce off Tristan Browne˙s nose! Thankfully justice was done as Sabine pulled off a wonderful one handed save low down to the right hand corner. Joe Hart could take some lessons from our Sabine!
Will Hennessy had the chance to make it a hat trick before the half time whistle but narrowly missed the goal. Will did not have long to wait as he got his hat trick in the opening minutes of the second half.
Fabian Wolski headed the ball to Great Imole who scored one of his signature long range goals curving the ball into the top left of the net and out of the keeper's reach.
Fabian was then rewarded for having set up three of the goals scored so far, Scott put in a cheeky little back heel flick that Messi would have been proud of finding Fabian who scored goal number five. Fabian followed this with a second goal. Meanwhile Great made a number of goal attempts, unfortunately not finding the target.
Orchard Celtic were awarded another penalty, Tristan was on goal keeping duty in this half and watched happily as the kick glanced off the bar. This was followed by the final goal of the match from Fabian Wolski giving him his hat trick.
Celtic's defenders were in top form today, Orchard Celtic had some chances but consistently sound defending by Tom, Callum and both goalies kept the sheet clean. All in all a great display with much improved team work from Castleknock Celtic which resulted in a well-deserved handsome win.
