Finglas Celtic 1 Castleknock Celtic 2
Celtic travelled to Kildonan Road, Finglas looking for a win to take them into their third cup final in four seasons.
Finglas is always a difficult place to win and nothing changed in this Paul McGrath Cup semi-final encounter.
Sean Hogan played a lone strikers role having been moved from his usual right mid position and it was his
performance that made the difference.
Celtic went 1-0 up after 15 minutes when Sean latched onto a fantastic cross from Shane Duggan. 5 minutes later, a defining moment saw Finglas reduced to 10 men when their midfielder was sent off for violent conduct.
This should have given Celtic the edge but to Finglas's credit they battled and were rewarded with a penalty when Vlad Skrypka was deemed to have handled in the box. Stephen Mason dived the right way but the ball just eluded him.
It was ebb and flow until 20 minutes from time when Sean Hogan was again on target with a fine finish from a pass by Adam Russell.
Finglas had a number of shots on target and Celtic had their own chances but the visitors held out and booked themselves a place in the final in May.
