Full credit to Celtic who put in a great challenge at home to 3rd placed St Maelruan's FC who had won the corresponding fixture comfortably away in Tallaght some short few weeks ago. A great team effort was not enough at the end of the day to get a share of the points which they deserved. Man of the match was Darius Horincar who made some very brave saves to deny Maelruans a second.
Celtic were dealt a blow midway through the first half when the Maelruans striker squeezed the ball through the keeper and centre half. It was the one time the visitors managed to beat Darius in goal who did very well coming off his line to snuff out dangerous attacking situations. Celtic went close to an equaliser, with efforts from Gentian Ramadani and Ryan Shiels. U-12 guest David Biernat went close to scoring late on after he had been switched from defence to attack in an effort to salvage the game. Dylan Coyne, David's team mate, was in exceptional form and set up numerous attacks as he skinned the full back on the right side. Celtic full back line did well overall, with Ryan Shiels and Kamil Suchomski covering for their central defenders intelligently when required. Devang Metang and David were solid in the middle of the defence, with David being a contender for man of the match. Matthew Coughlan delivered some incisive passes to set up attacks, with Gentian working hard in the middle of the park and being unlucky not to sneak a goal that his effort deserved. Ahmad Shah showed his skills on the left hand side of the park, while Ryan Brady was supporting defence and attack throughout. Angelo Horincar battled when up front in the first half, and later did a good job at the back when called into action in the second half. Daniel Hanrahan put in a good shift, working in the defence in the first half, and later on holding up the ball for his fellow attackers when he took over in the centre forward role.
All in all a performance that deserved more than they got, but they can look forward to their next outing confident that their luck will change.
