DDSL U9 SSG proves a success as Castleknock U9’s Come of Age
The Castleknock Celtic U9’s have come up against tough opposition in the new-format DDSL 5-a-side non competitive leagues. Indeed the U9 Navy team have had their ups and downs but if ever there was an advertisement for underage small sided schoolboy football it was to be seen in Huntstown Hartstown today.
First of all the welcome from Hartstown which was only matched by the camaraderie shown among the respective Coaches. There were 22 players representing both Clubs – all played, all smiled and all had fun. The encouragement from both sets of Coaches and supporters was heart warming and heartfelt.
On what was a real showcase for Schoolboy soccer, there was perhaps a first in the newly styled format as ALL 10 of the Castleknock players scored – surely a first and testament to the Sport for all and playing children in all positions attitude from Castleknock Celtic.
At the end of the game both teams and Managers congratulated each other in what was a wonderful sporting occasion.
Oh you may be wondering who won the games. Well who cares!!! All I can tell you is that Football was the winner and there are 22 kids looking forward to playing again next week.
Well done to all.
