The match was tied at 5-5 with Kilmore Celtic. Castleknock played with the very considerable wind in the first half and racked up 5 goals to Kilmore's one. The first came from Liam O'Sullivan within seconds of the tipoff. He followed it with a superb finish on 17min. James Yeskerski matched Liam's two with two of his own. And George Styles rounded off the half. Kilmore got their goal on 24 min.
The second half was never going to be easy. And although Celtic played confidently, the pressure Kilmore put on the Celtic defence paid off first at 6 min in. They clawed back to 5-4 after 21 minutes. Thomas Stevens in goal soaked up the pressure and the defence defended with commitment for the last 20 minutes. Finally, it took a howler of a decision with the referee missing a blatant offside to level up the game in the last minute. Celtic felt robbed, but had to satisfy themselves with a draw against a team second in the division who had won comfortably in the away leg. Man of the match was Jordan Cavani for his defensive efforts. Verdict; Team very definitely making good progress.
Another positive, following last weeks fixture, the referee decided to put Thomas Stevens' name forward for consideration for the ndsl panel of goalkeepers. This is the second player, James Yeskerski being the first, on our team to have this compliment paid to them. Good work lads.
