With the wind blowing a gale in Porterstown, Rivervalley Rangers took enough chances in the first half with the wind behind them to see them through this tight league encounter. Leading 2-0 at half time, it looked like it was a deficit that the home side could overturn in the second period. Indeed Celtic did exert much pressure, but they found it difficult to maintain the necessary control in the extremely windy conditions. Midway through the second half, it was a fine pass from Gavin Keane that gave Lee Weafer, who has scored vital goals for Celtic in the past, the opportunity to race through and plant the ball in the bottom left hand corner, out of the keeper's reach. With only one goal separating the sides, Celtic pressed hard for the equaliser, but try as they may, the vital goal eluded them. Celtic now have the opportunity over the Christmas break to re-group and prepare to get their league campaign back on track in the New Year.
