Wind swept day on a good surface in Knocklyon, difficult conditions for both teams. Celtic's preparation was hampered by injury to Hammad in the warm up and the lack of keepers gloves for Sabin whose mother was despatched to the Square for emergency replacements. The gloves proved lucky, as Sabin made a string of superb saves to support the hard working defence of Liam Wrafter, Conor Cooney, Casper & Klevis. The midfield of Beni, Dino, Danny & Brendan worked hard, but the ball spent much of the time in the air....allowing for few opportunities for Craig & Fabian up front.
Brendan Stingu broke the deadlock with a typical bustling run, before Fabian's persistence in the box allowed Kacem to drive home for a 2-0 cushion. Ghets resistance was finally broken by a penalty, setting up a nervy last 10 minutes before Great Imole adjusted his feet brilliantly to tuck home a tight left foot finish.
Despite a late consolation for Knocklyon, Celtic held firm with the reappearance of Hammad at centre half and the versatility of Captain Klevis and the resolute defence. Well done to all for braving the conditions and showing so much commitment as always.
