Castleknock arrived at Collinstown this morning missing 3 players, two due to injury and one was away. The squad was already weakened with those 3 out and after the warmup Anthony dropped out with hip injury. That left 2 outfield players on the line with Abasse coming in to help.
Collinstown took the lead on 19 minutes when CCFC cleared a corner only for it to be swung back in, onto the head of the incoming striker. Collinstown went 2-0 up 8 minutes into the 2nd half. Castleknock continued to play out from the back which allowed the team into the opposing half in possession of the ball and creating opportunities to gain a foothold. 27minutes into the 2nd half Dan Carolan found Ciaran McGarry who slipped the ball into Adam Neto who without hesitating unleashed a 25 yard strike into the top right hand corner of the net. 1-2.
The introduction of Abasse some minutes before that goal had brought more intensity in the final third. Abasse was chasing down every single ball putting Collinstown defence under severe pressure and it was he who ran onto a ball, losing it and then winning it again off the left back and looking up to find Ciaran who hit an unstoppable shot into the corner. 2-2 with 7 minutes to go.
The winner came with 2 minutes to go, having squeezed out the Collinstown midfield, Charles Mutawe looped a ball over the advancing back four, which Abasse ran on to and lifted it over the advancing keeper. 3-2 to Castleknock and their first league win of the season.
