Postal Aylesbury won the teams' previous meeting by 4-0 margin. Today in Ptown, it was a totally different contest. CCFC's squad of players were down 4 players for today's game. Postal were straight onto the attack, battering the CCFC defences. Great saves by reserve keeper, Ethan Hoey, with Ruben Aherne & Dylan Ibitoya on the wings, held them at bay. Strong midfield performance by Capt. Ren Mulligan was important in the early stages to prevent the visitors gaining an advantage. Ren however went off injured after 20 min when he took a frightening thump of the ball to his jaw. Thankfully Dr Niazi was closeby to reassure Ren who is comfortable at home now though still sore on Sunday evening. A few mins after Ren had to leave the field, Postal went ahead with a shot on goal that Ethan had no chance of stopping. HT 0-1.
In the 2nd half CCFC continued to have to withstand a lot of severe pressure from Postal. Again Joseph Dunne was flawless in his defending. Stand in defender Rei Mulligan and Amhad Niazi returning from illness, were blocking and clearing relentlessly, and man of the match tackling by Costel Burlacu would not let Postal in again. Halfway through the second half, Celtic broke out of defence. James Bannerman was put through and he coolly steadied and slotted his shot by Postal keeper. 1-1.. Frankee Donnelly, Kleo Malaj, and Daniel Ibitoya continued to battle but with 5mins to go Postal's perseverence and superior possession reaped its reward as they scrambled the ball by the excellent Celtic keeper who was unsighted as the ball flashed into the net. Ethan had made a succession of marvellous saves to keep his side in the game and must be a contender for the man of the match award. Brave CCFC could not reply but will be all the stronger for this great battle .
