Celtic took on Mid Sutton in this rearranged fixture. The crisp bright morning was very pleasant and so was the football. Mid Sutton began well and caused the Celtic defence problems. But some very solid performances from the two central defenders, Ross Kennedy and Cormac, held out the Mid Sutton attack, indeed as Celtic got on top, the aforementioned lads played some lovely passes into midfield. Charlie in goal distributed the ball very well.
Celtic took the lead in the 15th minute, a fine through ball to Declan O'Malley, who outpaced the visitors' defence before slotting home. Celtic made it 2-0 shortly afterwards, Wesley finishing well in a repeat of the first goal. Simon Ayres was controlling the middle aided by Owen. Mid Sutton pulled 1 back, but the Celtic machine was cranking into gear and 2 more goals went in before half-time. 4-1 Celtic.
There were lots more goals in the second half, but the most pleasing part of the win was the pace and power in the entire team, from 1 to 13 everyone played with passion and skill. By far the most complete game this team has put together. Yes there will be stronger opposition but on this display the improvement curve is rising sharply. Finally a special mention for Cormac for his excellent display and great playing out from the back. Well done all and see you on Monday.
