Celtic's Under-13As won their first silverware of the season when they defeated Huntstown-Hartstown FC 3-1 in the final of the Friendship Cup. It followed a cracking 3-2 win in the semi-final v Home Farm.

Celtic took an early lead against HHFC when Owen Akpiama struck on 3 minutes. Celtic's second came after Charles Mutawe got possession in his own half, he passed to Vilius Labutus, who in turn found Ciaran McGarry. He put Michael Afuye through to pass to Owen, and his pass was finished beautifully by Brian Dalton who lobbed the ball over the keeper. The game was virtually over when Ciaran McGarry set up Owen, but his effort came back off the keeper to Eugie Rowland who put the Celts out of sight. HHFC did get a consolation late on to leave the final score 3-1.

The semi-final had seen an amazing comeback. It was a game of 2 halves as Celtic took on DDSL Under-13 Major side Home Farm in their semi-final game in the Hartstown Christmas Tournament. Down 2-0 at half time, a final place seemed very remote. A superb individual goals from Owen Akpiama which saw him  take possession on the half way line, before powering his way forward and scoring the vital goal to enable Celtic gain what seemed an unlikely foothold.

It was a screamer from Alan Elliott from 20 metres into the roof of the net drew Celtic level. A Charles Mutawe free kick into the far right hand corner was to prove the winner and sent Castleknock Celtic into the final.

Congratulations to HHFC for an extremely well run tournament. While they are delighted with their success, Celtic will benefit hugely from the competition which will provide them with the ideal preparation for their SFAI Cup campaign that begins next week with their home game against Home Farm. match and other action Photos provided by cameraman for the day Lee Jones
